Wizkid Wizkid Signs Biggest Deal With Sony Music Featured

Wizkid has finally penned down a mega deal with Sony Music – the Afrobeat singer, who had caught the attention ofUniversal Music decided to go with their rival music distribution company, Sony Music after the latter offered him a mouth watering deal.

The global record deal was sealed with Sony Music in New York last Tuesday,September 13 – according to insiders,Wizkid will be receiving about a million dollars in advance and then and sign to RCA Records who will handle his distribution deal in the United States.

“According to sources, Wizkid will receive a 7 figure advance (in US Dollars) and sign to RCA Records who will handle his distribution deal in the United States”, music website NotJustOk reports.

A source close to Wizkid’s camp told Pulse Nigeria that plans were in motion to announce this deal spectacularly, with many outlets reporting that Sony Music is involved.

“There’s something big coming up for Wizkid, and it happened while he was in America. The deal will be the biggest ever signed by an African, and signifies progress for the music business on the continent,” the source said.

Meanwhile NotJustOk’s head of content Ovie O. took to Twitter on September 12, 2016 to reveal some insights about the deal. He confirmed the rumoured bidding war between Universal Music and Sony Music for the star.

Wizkid’s signing with Sony Music will see him joining the likes of Davido who signed a deal in the same label and Ayo Jay, who is signed to RCA records.
The singer whose real name is Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, runs his own label imprint Star Boy has been making steady waves with his numerous collaborations with international artistes such as Drake, Swizz Beatz, Chris Brown and more.
