Some pupils were captured receiving their lesson under trees but they received free lunch from the Kaduna State government’s free feeding programme.
Learning under trees and in open fields leaves these pupils at the mercy of the elements.

We don’t know what is happening. The pupils receive lessons in an open field and under trees but they still get free lunch,” said Comrade Nehemiah Handan.

He said the horrible situation have been going on which prompted a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Caleb Danladi Foundation that has commenced building of two blocks of class rooms.

Nehemiah expressed optimism that Caleb Danladi Foundation will complete the building in good time to assuage the suffering of the pupils in Kampani community, Shadalafiya District, Kagarko LGA of Kaduna state.

The foundation laying ceremony for the building of the classes commenced on Children’s Day, Friday May 27, 2016.

Caleb Danladi Foundation Management has also expressed displeasure over the agony of the pupils in the community that get government free lunch from Monday to Thursday but learn in the open field.

The foundation had visited classes where students were seen receiving lessons under trees and open filed due to lack of classrooms and learning facilities.

Coordinator of the foundation, Mr Habila Kayit, expressed shock over the poor state of infrastructure and facilities in the school and urged government to intervene.

Mr Caleb Danladi, the founder of Caleb Danladi Foundation told Pulse that he was shock seeing pupils receiving lessons under the trees hence his decision to build a two block of classrooms in the area.

Caleb further said that without quality and enabling environment for learning, there won’t be National development. “Government, NGO and well meaning Nigerians must join hands in promoting child education especially those who seats in an open filed to study.”
