Two prisoners who escaped from the Kuje Prison in Abuja last week have been arrested by men of the Department of State Services (DSS), according to Sahara Reporters.
The escape of the prisoners had temporarily sparked rumours that 2010 independence day bomber, Charles Okah was involved in a jail break. Subsequent statements from the prison authorities however clarified that the terror suspect was still in prison custody.
According to Sahara Reporters the apprehended men are currently being held at the DSS headquarters in Abuja while the authorities decide where to put the escapees.
No information was immediately available on where the escaped prisoners were arrested or their condition at the time of arrest.
Prison guards and staff were said to have been jubilant at the news and were heard celebrating the news in their respective wards.
