Producer Timbaland has kicked off a debate on social media, questioning the true nature of Aaliyah’s relationship with R. Kelly and if she really was pregnant before her death as never-confirmed-speculations claimed, and it’s all thanks to his post where he wished the late singer a happy mother’s day.
Recall that in his January interview with GQ, R Kelly agreed to having a relationship with but refused to admit if he really got married to the then-15-year-old singer, a rumoured scandal that forever hangs over the ‘Ignition’ singer’s head.
“Well, because of Aaliyah’s passing, as I’ve always said, out of respect for her mother who’s sick and her father who’s passed, I will never have that conversation with anyone,” R Kelly told GQ’s interviewer, adding, “Out of respect for Aaliyah, and her mother and father who has asked me not to personally. But I can tell you I loved her, I can tell you she loved me, we was very close. We were, you know, best best best best friends.”
But no one saw the female artist carry the baby to full term, though she maintained close relationship with producer Timbaland until her death.
And so, when Timbaland shared Aaliyah’s photo today with the controversial caption, it kicked off new a conversation about the true story behind the late singer.
