New reports have just confirmed that the alleged lover of late Lagos banker Ronke Bewaji Shonde has gone into hiding.
According to Vanguard, the managing director of a publishing firm in Ikeja who was said to be in a relationship with the late Shonde has not shown up at work since Monday, following claims that he was in a relationship with Shonde.
Vanguard adds that the managing director’s office is located on the ground of a two-storey building on Talabi Street in Ikeja, Lagos. The staff of the company, however, refused to give corroborate this claim.
The cheating allegation was leveled on the late Ronke Shonde by her husband who still insists that she cheated on him with her boss, adding that he had overheard them on the phone.
When Lekan Shonde handed himself over to the police for further investigations, his friend Gbenga Sholuki who is the Executive Director of Campaign against Impunity and Domestic Violence, said Mr Shonde called his wife’s alleged lover and the yet-to-be-identified person apologised over the phone.
Mr Shonde, in a statement to the police, said that his late wife never denied having an extramarital affair.
However, the family of the late Ronke has confirmed that Mr Shonde has a child outside wedlock. According to Daily Post, Ronke’s sister stated that the deceased almost left her 51-year-old accused husband in 2015 after the family confirmed that he has child with another woman.
“My sister called me and said her husband had a child outside wedlock,” Bolatito said, adding, “She said somebody brought the child to the house and said her husband was the father. She was shattered by that news and from that time, she started keeping to herself.”
“Lekan asked her to forgive him, saying it was the devil’s handiwork,” the bereaved sister continued. “He would kneel and beg in the kitchen and bathroom. He promised to do a DNA test to know if the child was truly his own, but he didn’t do it. He started sending people to beg her. But she decided to stop talking to him.”
